When I received the news of Mikey's passing today I was at a loss for words and still am. I've met a lot of good people and have made some great friends at Burleson and Mikey was definitely at the top of the list.
Mikey Godspeed to you and my deepest sympathies to your family.

I have been in a funk all week after Mikey left us. I have no idea what to do or say. I did not know about Mike loosing his first wife. After something like that I would be devastated for a very long time but Mike found the strength to get past that. Perhaps he just had to love again. I suppose you have no choice when you have a heart as big as his. Since I met Mike last year he has been a source of inspiration and aggravation ever time we have met. It will be very hard to go to BMX in the future knowing he will not be there. I used to have a set of rules that an old guy should live by, I changed rule number one to "Never pass up a chance to tell someone you care about that you love them". The thing about Mike was, now is the only time I can tell him how much I cared about him. Heck if I had told him that before, his incredibly quick wit would have had him giving me fits forever. I loved my friend, and I will miss him.

I've got a video of Mike's last race. He had a great first moto, maybe his best race ever, ask Starnes, see it at: scoremx.com/burleson - (you can hear me cheering him on)... thanks Rick
